Come, share the hope and love of God with the largest marginalized people group in Europe. This relatively new team is actively recruiting new members to join in engaging the poorest of the poor with the physical and spiritual hope of the gospel. Our location offers the perks of a large city and the excitement of a developing country. The ministry focus is church planting among the Roma of Albania, with ministry projects working on community health, children and adult education and possibilities for farming or business as mission.
Reach out to Austrians with English
Vienna is a beautiful, well developed, wealthy city but is denied the opportunities to hear and respond to the gospel of salvation through Jesus. There has been a religious tradition-bound to political authorities throughout Europe, largely focussed in Vienna, for centuries. This, together with prosperity, economic growth and modern cultural values has eroded trust in, and relevance of Christianity, leading to cynicism and misunderstanding of God’s salvation. It has generated an extremely resistant, sceptical society, ignorant of their need for the salvation offered by Jesus.
We need for churches to be planted and growing and national leaders emerging so that the local church would develop into a healthy, bible-centred, self-sustaining, replicating and national-led church.
But first, we need to make disciples!
We are convinced that although the gospel is unchanging, its presentation needs to be changing to meet people where they’re at. Gone are the days when people will attend a programme presented by the local church. We must connect with people where they are.
In seeking a culturally appropriate way of making contact with people with a view to the sharing of the Good News, we have found English ministry to be the most effective. This is being directed toward children’s, youth and adult-based ministries using English. At the centre of our focus is a recently founded English language centre; a friendly conversation-based English learning centre. We seek to find and take the God-given opportunities to present a Christian World-view to challenge our students to consider their views of the world, mankind and God.
If you’re interested in using English to engage people on eternally significant issues – to win them to Christ – then we’d love to hear from you.
Reach Muslim-Background People in Vienna
Vienna is a melting-pot of cultures, languages, spirituality and people-groups. The Muslim population, currently about 10% of Vienna’s population, is growing fast.
One of the unreached people-groups of Vienna are the Albanian speaking immigrants. Having fled their home due to war or poverty, they hold on to the one thing they have; Islam. We have a small team with big demands; to reach out to these people with God’s love and his call to accept Jesus for salvation. We currently have a couple working specifically with Albanian-speakers who would value more workers.
There are other Muslims, too, with different backgrounds: Immigrants from Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and the list goes on. What they do have in common, though, is the need to hear the message of Jesus in a way that they can understand and accept.
We’d love those with a heart to reach Muslims to help fill a need here and talk with us about how they could join us. Are you one of them?
Mentor Church Leaders in Slovakia
Are you an experienced worker in ministry and looking how the Lord could use you in missions? Slovakia may be the answer. Current and new church leaders are in great need of mentors who have a passion to see churches mobilized for growth, outreach, and missions. Singles and couples, men and women, can all be used of the Lord to model and encourage leaders to follow Him and make more disciples. The harvest is plentiful but workers are needed.
Is the Lord calling you to the harvest in Slovakia?
Church Planting Movement (CPM) - Marseille, France
Pioneers in Europe is praying for two Church Planting (CPM) teams in Marseille in the Southern PACA region of France. There is a need for a dynamic team of culturally and ethnically diverse individuals who will focus on CPM among the Muslim populations in the hard places in and around Marseille. These teams would work within the context of an existing fellowship of French Evangelical churches to reach Muslims for Christ and to see churches begun among these populations. These would include recent immigrants to French of ethnic origin and Muslim background.
These teams will require excellent French and Arabic language/culture skills and/or intensive training.
Is God calling you to be a light in Marseille, France?
Belgium Bruxelles/Liege - Church Planting Among Muslim Background People
Pioneers in Europe is praying for at least two church planting teams (CPM) to reach out to the Muslim background populations in urban areas. These teams would work within the context of an existing fellowship of Belgian Evangelical churches to reach Muslims for Christ and to see churches begun among these populations.
Do you have a vision to see Muslims reached for the Kingdom?
This will require excellent French and Arabic language/culture skills and/or intensive language training.
Lisbon, Portugal - Discipleship Ministry Opportunities
Jesus last command to His disciples before going back up to heaven was to “go and make disciples of all nations …” (Mt. 28:19-20). Today we rightly view this as Jesus mandate to His church. So if you desire to see those who don’t yet know Jesus come to know Him, and those who do already know Him come to love Him more and obey him more fully, then there are endless opportunities to do this in Portugal. If you have a heart for discipleship, then Portugal needs you.
You could be involved in discipleship in any number of ways, including in the local churches that are already established, through church planting initiatives, through theological education, or a combination of any or all of these. There are as many opportunities as there are people.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Launch Team
In anticipation of a new season of ministry, the Bosnia Launch Team seeks to mobilize, train, and launch a generation of disciple-makers who will play a vital role in changing the spiritual destiny of a nation. We are praying and thinking about the church in BiH 20 years from now and asking what it will take for the masses to have access to the gospel? We believe one of the answers is equipping the next generation of disciples and leaders in Bosnia with simple, sustainable, reproducible, and transferable ministry skills that will result in lasting spiritual fruit. We seek to launch a new wave of message-bearers that see themselves as incarnational catalysts who work effectively and intentionally to equip the next generation of Bosnian saints for the work of ministry in a way that can multiply many times over, in cooperation with local churches.
Our vision is to glorify God by helping to catalyze a Bosnian-shaped movement of disciples and churches in BiH, and among all the least-reached peoples of the former Yugoslavia.
A key component of our strategy is based on discovery-based disciple making movement (DMM) principles as a holistic paradigm for all aspects of ministry.
Nice, France - ESL or French Literacy Outreach for Muslim Background Peoples
Most people around the world think of Nice as a glamorous beach vacation destination, home to mansions, yachts, and movie stars. But Nice is also home to a significant Muslim population (France has the largest percentage of Muslims as compared to their total population in the EU). Nice is the second largest French city on the Mediterranean, after Marseilles, which is the most Muslim French city with a 20% Muslim population. The Joshua Project says that Nice is a “formerly or falsely reached” city.
Pioneers has a team working with Muslim background peoples in Nice, and they are currently looking for new team members to help them reach out to this community through teaching English and French, as well as initiating friendships and Discovery Bible Studies in the community.
Smiling Upon the Ismailis
A marginalised and often overlooked Islamic sect, the Shia Ismaili Muslims have their roots in North Africa, the Persian world, and India and are moving into western Europe. They have adopted London as one of their modern heartlands, home to a majority of the 14,000 Ismailis in the UK and featuring one of only 6 worldwide Ismaili centers and also their academic base, the Institute of Ismaili Studies. They have a public presence and well-established community…what they need is the Gospel. Are you being called to join those who have a vision to see the unreached Ismailis encounter the living Christ?
Muslim Background Outreach
The Republic of Ireland (ROI) is the least-evangelized nation in the English-speaking world. As a result, it is perhaps no surprise that the various unreached immigrant populations who have made Ireland their home continue to remain unreached. The Catholic Church, though present in the culture and community, does little to intentionally engage the nations of the earth that God has brought to their doorstep.
More than half of the Muslims living in Ireland reside in Dublin; a community of 35,000 people have made their home in a city with a historical Christian heritage but are completely unengaged with the Gospel. Although there are churches and individuals burdened to reach out to them, what Dublin needs is a full-time missionary team to catalyze, partner, and engage these communities. Are you being called to help bring the Gospel back to the land of St. Patrick?
Engage Muslim Background Peoples in Northern England
The Tandoor Team - Leeds, UK
Join our team in the north of England as we seek to engage and reach the thousands of Muslims from various backgrounds here in the City.
Team Tandoor exists to share Jesus with the unreached South Asians of Leeds and to mentor and disciple new believers in the Christian faith, equipping them to be witnesses and disciple makers in their own communities. Team Tandoor works in partnership with like-minded local churches, sharing together in outreach, prayer and discipleship with them.
Team Tandoor seeks men and women who:
... have a desire to befriend and witness to Muslims (and Hindus and Sikhs) through door to door visiting (e.g.Project Jalfrezi an on going door knocking activity ).
- ... are able to commit for a minimum of 1-2 years.
- ... aspire to be part of a prayerful and supportive team.
- ... are ready to learn (Team Tandoor makes use of a course that helps ‘ordinary Christians to discuss good news with ordinary Muslims’, see http://friendshipfirst.org/; team members will also be taught simple greetings in Urdu/Hindi and given many helpful insights in to British Asian culture).
- ... are excited about seeing Muslim/Hindu & Sikh background believers established in the faith.
Church Planting Among Atheists
"Pravda vítězí" - Truth Prevails! The national motto of the Czech Republic comes from the early church Reformer and Czech John Hus. Yet today, by many measures, the Czech Republic ranks as the most atheist country in the world. Though the cities and villages boast remarkably beautiful cathedrals and churches, less than 1% of Czech know Jesus as Lord and Savior. This post-protestant, post-catholic nation is need of gospel renewal and a move of God in the planting of new churches across the country.
Consider joining a team of church planters working with local churches across the country to encourage, equip, and help plant new gospel-centered churches.
Business as Mission in Prague and Brno
Prague and Brno have become strategic international cities, drawing people from Eastern Europe, Western Europe, India, the Middle East, and beyond. Opportunities for strategic business as mission abound.
Do you have a business background or a business idea you would like to use for the Kingdom of God, the advance of the gospel, and the planting of local churches in one of the least reached countries in the world? If so, consider joining one of our teams.
Engage Cultural Catholics with the Gospel
Once a majority Catholic nation, today only 4.5% of French consider themselves practicing Catholics. France was the birthplace of the Reform, yet sadly, today less than 1% of the French are Bible believing, Christ followers. France was also the birthplace of rationalism and boasts of her great philosophers such as Descartes, Rousseau, Voltaire, Comte, Sartre, Foucault, Camus, Derrida, Diderot, Pascal, and many others.
Is God calling you to engage this post-Catholic nation with the hope of the Living Savior Jesus Christ? If so, prayerfully consider joining one of our teams in France.
Muslim Background Outreach
11% of French are muslims and Islam is the second most practiced religion in France - after atheism (63%). There have been numerous, and sadly failed, attempts to integrate north african and Arab populations into french society. Could the answer to France’s desire for integration only be achieved in Jesus, where there is, “no greek, jew, slave or free?” We are in desperate need for ‘ministers of reconciliation’ who will reconcile muslims first to God and then to others.
Is God leading you to engage this unreached people group? If so, prayerfully consider joining our team.
Prevent Missionaries From Being Hacked
Just as it was in the days of Jesus there are those in this world who would do their best to disrupt, undermine and destroy the work of the Gospel. Pioneers must be careful about their online communications. In an increasingly connected world, it is easy to be exposed or hacked to the detriment of the Gospel. One Pioneers team is dedicated to stopping it. Headquartered in the UK, they establish IT security for both Pioneers church planters on the field and missionaries from other organizations.
This team seeks an individual to provide administrative, technical and business leadership to the IT team operating in the UK. This individual would work with the Chief Operating Officer of the Media Departmet to help ensure that the department is financially viable. This team also needs more team members with specialization in networking, programming, systems integration, security and the help-desk. This is a great opportunity that holds the ropes for so many Pioneers who are laboring for the sake of Christ. Apply here or contact Pioneers with any questions.
Minister to Atheists in Creative Ways
Europe seems like it has access to the gospel, right? But what if you lived in an area where you were told that your priest is the only person who can understand the Bible. Many people of Poland grow up in church tradition without encountering God’s Word for themselves. That leaves a secular culture of people who identify with a religion but not faith.
Perhaps you would fit well on a team of people using creative ways to reach Poles. They have a need for people who are certified to teach English as a second language, who are gifted in music and art, who love working with youth or are skilled in sports (like BMX and in-line skating, skateboarding, etc.).
Serve on a team with a long-term worker while reaching into two communities with less than 10 known Christians. Contact us to find out more
